The eleventh edition of Sluice’s peripatetic international expo is alighting in the far east of Iceland in the isolated town of Seyðisfjörður (population 670). Sluice Seyðisfjörður is an international expo of artist and curator-led projects each addressing the concept of world-building as a means to explore how we build worlds within our own. How these re-imagined, alternative worlds reflect back at us our dissatisfaction with the world as-is and points towards utopic/dystopic alternates. We recognize the danger of the current historical moment, and also its potential.
Rallying under the title Sluice Seyðisfjörður: World-Building, 17 projects will exhibit over 200 artists in 11 venues around Seyðisfjörður from 23 to 25 May 2025. In tandem with the expo, Sluice Film Festival will be staged at Her›ubíó cinema, the only cinema in east Iceland. Sluice Film Festival will show 17 artist’s short films on the subject of world-building, culminating in a prize-giving for ‘best in show’ awarded by artists David Blandy and Kamilla Gylfadóttir.
Exhibitions, screenings, talks, and performances will be situated throughout the Seyðisfjörður community and industrial areas. The exhibiting projects come from the UK, USA, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, Iceland and New Zealand. The World-Building expo has been jointly developed and delivered by Seyðisfjörður based LungA School and London based SLUICE.

Original text, DM or email I sent out:
I'm not sure whether or not you're familiar with my limited edition set of 6 x 6" (15.24 x 15.24 cm) prints entitled "Twelve for Twenty." If not, I've attached a short video at the end of this text as a visual reference.
My initial intention upon completion of the series was to make the packets available for purchase. However, after conversing with my wife, the two of us decided that the work would prove more impactful if offered as a gift to friends, colleagues, and strangers both near and far alike. A simple gesture to counter the unfortunately complex times we've all had to endure together.
The twelve prints assembled within each of the "Twelve for Twenty" packets were created between January and December 2020 during various stages of lockdown brought about by the Coronavirus Pandemic. Printed on Hahnemühle 100% cotton archival matte paper (310gsm), the collection of work best represents both corresponding and divergent examples of my ongoing preoccupation with non-objective grid-based compositions.
As of today, I've sent _______ of the twenty packets to various points and people about the globe, and I would be more than happy to include you in this project by mailing one to you as well. Of course, you needn't concern yourself with the shipping cost; I will take care of that too. If you are interested, please let me know, and we'll proceed from there. Enjoy your day; stay safe.
